What is a Bus Bridge? #
A “Bus Bridge” is a temporary shuttle bus service used when SunRail trains cannot travel between certain stations. The buses transport passengers between the affected stations, allowing them to bypass the disrupted section of the rail line and continue their trip.
We understand that a Bus Bridge may add time to your trip. SunRail and our transit partners will work to minimize delays and help you reach your destination as safely and efficiently as possible.
When is a Bus Bridge necessary? #
A Bus Bridge may be used when SunRail service is interrupted by track work, signal issues, a disabled train, severe weather, an emergency, or other conditions that prevent trains from traveling between stations.
What happens during a Bus Bridge? #
During a Bus Bridge, riders exit the SunRail train and board designated LYNX or VoTran buses*. The buses travel around the affected area and take riders to a station where train service can resume. Riders then board another SunRail train to continue their trip.
*Note: VoTran provides Bus Bridge service at Volusia County stations. LYNX provides Bus Bridge service at Seminole, Orange, and Osceola County stations.
What buses/shuttles are used as a Bus Bridge? #
Bus Bridge service is provided by SunRail transit partners LYNX and VoTran. Look for buses displaying “SunRail Special” and marked Northbound or Southbound for your direction of travel.
Is there a cost for a Bus Bridge #
No. Bus Bridge service is free for SunRail riders and provides transportation between stations where train service is temporarily unavailable.
How long does a Bus Bridge last? #
A Bus Bridge remains in place until normal train service can safely resume.
