Sanford – Starting June 23, the railroad drawbridge spanning the St. Johns River between Volusia and Seminole counties will be open for limited hours on weekdays, between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and again between 1:15 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., while necessary repairs are made. Weekends, the bridge will be opened on demand when work on the span is underway. The work, which involves mechanical repairs to the drawbridge, will last approximately 12 weeks.
During that time, only watercraft shorter than 8-feet 6-inches tall will be able to pass beneath the lift span when closed. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as these necessary repairs take place. Railroad traffic, including SunRail commuter rail service to and from DeBary, is not expected to be affected by the bridge work. Please be careful around railroad tracks and at passenger rail platforms. Drivers, please keep a safe distance at railroad crossings. Be smart. Be safe.
